Why we get fat

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Our ancestors were the equivalent to olympic athletes in their health. They lived in a world of survival of the fittest. If they did not fight to survive, they would be somebody else’s food.Genetically, our bodies have not changed much since those times. We’ve had to evolve mechanisms that would keep us alive during times of famine.

Hunter/gatherers during this time endured long periods of starvation. It was rare that they had enough food.To combat this, our bodies have more systems that allow us to gain weight than they do for us tolos e weight.

Through hormonal changes in our body, our ancestors survived by gaining and storing weight to survive periodic famines. In society today, this just sounds ridiculous because we have plenty of food.

On the contrary, our food supply is completely devoid of nutrients.

Nowadays, our food is calorie rich and nutrient poor. We are literally in a famine amidst plenty.

We are literally poisoning our bodies by not exercising, poor food choices and mental stress. Foods such as high fructose corn syrup, sucrose, table salt, boxed and canned goods all contribute to destroying your health and your bikini body.

Remember: Our ancestors were literally built like Olympic athletes. Not because they wanted to be, but because they had to survive and in the wild, survival of the fittest prevails.

As we have adapted, our bodies created systems to get us through hard times such as droughts and even bad eye sight! This is why it is important to have a holistic weight loss program. This type of program is designed to give you nutrient dense foods that have a very low calorie value.

During our hunter/gatherer times, our sweets were fruits and honey. They were all natural and not in a concentrated form like the sugar and “fake” honey that we have now.

Nowadays, our stress comes from money problems, relationship problems, and work stress. It isn’t for our survival. The problem lies in the fact that our bodies don’t differentiate between mental and physical stress.

All forms of stress overcome our innate drive to shed fat.Mentally, we get discouraged and this causes us to give into temptation. When you add these events together, many of our dietary choices are shifted from biological necessities to psychological reactions.

Loose Skin Can Be Avoided

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Have you heard about the story that if you lose a large amount of weight that you must have excess loose skin left? While there is some truth to this as many people do have loose skin after losing weight, it is not true that this has to be the case for you. You can avoid loose skin if you lose weight in the correct way.

An obvious example of this are the contestants on popular TV program The Biggest Loser. Many of these people lose a massive amount of weight and yet they still look stunning at the end. It’s not because they are losing weight slower. No, indeed they are losing weight much faster than most people do. What is their secret? Exercise.

People who lose weight by starving themselves without adding any exercise to their life are the people who end up with a lot of unsightly excess skin which they usually deal with using plastic surgery (which is not a very good solution.)

You don’t need to go on The Biggest Loser to lose weight the right way, you just need to start a program which helps you to lose weight the right way. If you read this free report on avoiding loose skin you will learn exactly what you should do to lose weight while avoiding loose skin.

There are great articles on the internet which will give you the information that you must know about how to avoid loose skin. Two good articles on loose skin: (1) avoiding loose skin from pregnancy (2) loose skin and weight loss.

Now what you really need to do is stop making excuses and start taking action. Some people use the fear of loose skin to keep them from doing what they have to do. They think “well I won’t look good anyway, even if I lost weight, so what’s the point?” Well first of all you should lose weight for reasons other than vanity. Being overweight is a big health risk. Secondly, you will look far better without the extra fat and as I’ve already mentioned, you can avoid loose skin.

Planning Your Meals Can Make Weight Loss Easier

Monday, December 17th, 2007

A lack of planning can present some difficulties when it comes to sticking to your weight loss diet plan. Natural weight loss requires eating a good diet that supports health as well as promotes weight loss. Unfortunately, because of a failure to plan what you are going to eat at each meal, it is easy to fall into the habit of grabbing whatever, whenever, resulting in poor eating choices.

For many people, life gets pretty hectic, and so eating often winds up getting something fast. One common scenario is stopping in a drive-through and hoping to find something that won’t wreck your diet too much. Although fast-food places have improved their selection of diet-friendly options, you may wind up getting a lot more (in terms of calories, fat, sugar, and refined carbs) than you bargained for, even with the healthier options.

The fall-back choice of salad may seem pretty diet-friendly, but not all salads support you in your weight loss goals. People often think they are doing a good thing by getting a salad with “lite” or fat-free dressing, but the salad itself maybe loaded with fat from things like bacon bits, fried chicken, and/or cheese. Besides the fat, for people who are particularly sensitive to carbohydrates, most dressings, especially the low-fat varieties, are loaded with sugar which may be enough to cause a high releas of insulin, which can block fat-burning for one to two days at a time. Certainly a sald is a better choice than a burger, but the salads available at fast-food drive-throughs are often not the ideal thing to be eating when you are trying to lose weight.

Other fast food choices such as grilled chicken wraps and sandwiches are also better overall than greasy burgers, but still may be high in carbs which can spell trouble for your weight loss program. In addition, most sodas, even diet sodas, are not good choices for those trying to lose weight because of the sodium benzoate content (sodium benzoate appears to block the formation of structures called mitochondria in the cells, which are responsible for burning fat for energy).

To get maximum effects from your weight loss efforts, it is highly recommended to plan out your meals and prepare what you are going to eat ahead of time to bring with you if you won’t be home at meal time. A small cooler can be kept in your office or your car, and you’ll know exactly what you’re eating and can be sure to avoid any ingredients that might cause a set-back in your weight loss.

By planning your meals ahead, and having what you want to eat with you when you are ready to eat, you can dramatically improve the efficiency of your weight loss efforts.
